disk is full

We are running W2K Server. When certain users try to save .xls files (all there is in this directory is .xls) in one directory only, they receive “disk is full” in a dialog box.

The server has over 50% free space, no disk quota, the users’ profiles are not corrupt or any different from profiles that do work, tried re-installing a fresh version of MS Office 2003 (this occurs with Excel 2000 & 2003), I went to the user’s personally to make sure there was no user error, and had the server rebooted.

I do not want to have to make local copies and teach the users how to download and upload from/to the server. I would be trading a problem for a nightmare.

Unfortunately, I am restricted as to how much I can really check without having to contact someone else. Just stating that because it may take a day to get back to the forum. Will be on vacation until Monday, take your time answering. As always, thanks for the feedback.

P.S. I read a previous Q & A about this where The Chas answered, and none of that information helped.
