DNS problems

by adunbar . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

DNS is running on NT 4.0 Server

Scenario:

New Domain: JaneDoe.com (registered domain name)
PDC: Windows 2000 Adv. Server/Windows 2000 Exchange Server

Steps:

1. I setup the DNS for the new domain I made it secondary to our internal DNS server.
1a. The zone transfers seem to work fine, but when I tried to do a NSLOOKUP on the server it returned the error message: Can’t find the server name for address 111.111.0.11.

2. I went to a workstation on our current domain and did a NSLOOKUP and it gave me the IP address of our ISP.

3. I realized that our DNS servers are listing our ISP’s DNS servers for both primary and secondary DNS.

4. I switched the primary to reflect our dns server ipaddress and once again I got the following message: Can’t find the server name for address 111.111.0.11.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
