Does overflow:scroll work in IE 6

I have a html select component which has a fixed width on the page. Some of the text is not visible as it going beyond the visible area in the select component. I have tried to put in the stmt
scrollbar in OPTION
The above fix works in Netscape but not in IE 6. Is there any work around for IE or am I doing something wrong.
