Does software which supports more operating systems run more slowly?

Imagine I have 2 softwares: A and B.
Say software A runs on all windows operating systems since windows xp.
Say software B runs on all operating systems since windows vista.

Would software A be a be a bit more slow and clanky, given it can go back more operating systems? or does it not matter?

Any help would be much appreciated!
