So I am in the market for a new job. I’m not in any hurry because so far, I’m relatively secure in the job I have. But for that past year and a half I have had my resume out their and I’ve been looking to make a move.
I have had maybe 4 offers so far and I’ve turned each of them down due to salary, distance, and/or travel requirements. But on Monday, in the middle of the day, I received a call from an agency in Manhattan. The recruiter left a message stating that she found my resume on Monster and thought I was a good match for the “full time” job she was looking to fill.
I contacted her on Tuesday at 9:30 and she briefly went over the requirements, which closely matched my skill set. I told the agent that I am currently working and I would like to know what the salary range is. She said I could not divulge that information. So I told her my current salary and what I would want to commute to Manhattan. She said that my requirements were within the job salary range.
So I told her I was interested and she said she would send me an email with the entire job description and I should respond back with my current resume.
At the end of the day I had to call her back because I have yet to receive the email. I had to be routed to her voicemail because she was on the phone.
I still have yet to receive the email or a call back.
So what do you think?
Was it the fact that I’m currently working that turned off the recruiter?
Was it that my salary requirements were too high and she didn’t want to tell me?
Was she just cold calling to make it appear she is filling her time?
I don’t want to name the agency yet until I confirm exactly why I received the call, but its pretty sad, when its them calling me, to simply not call back or follow-up as they said they would.
