Downloading .EPS-pics in IE – HELP

Can anyone help me?

My client has a picture gallery for press with hundreads of printmedia quality pictures (EPS, TIFF) for downloading, created with standard html (e.g.). The problem is with IE.

Why does IE (5.5/6.0) change the extension of .EPS-files to .PS-files when downloading? Is there any way to prevent this?

Or is there a better solution for this kind of pressinfos?
