Downloading text messages from Samsung GT-B3410 using New PC Studio

I need a ‘walk-through’ for transferring SMS text messages to my computer so that I can clear the SMS memory which is full without losing the messages.

I have at last found how to see the text messages on New PC Studio but when I attempt to transfer them it gives them file extensions .npf and/or .nef which I cannot read.
