Duplicate E-mails

I am using a Droid Razr Maxx. I have had a Gmail account for a few years as I had another Android cell phone. When I activated the Razr Maxx, I ended up with a Google account and now I get duplicate e-mails about 1 minute apart. How can I fix this? I have tried from the phone to delete one of the accounts but it won’t let me.
