emails would not delete in Outbox

Deletion would not occur after email is sent out from Outbox in Outlook Express 6. This causes email to be stuck in Outbox and it automatically sends same email in time interval. Receiptian would end up with multiple emails unless it is manually clear from the outbox. I tried reinatlling the Outlook Express but no help. Can anyone help me finding solution on this regard?
