embedded perl in IIS 4.0

Is there a way to get IIS 4.0 to serve embedded perl scripts (.epl) correctly? At the moment they are being served as plain text html files, showing all the script programming.
Normal perl scripts (.pl) work OK thanks to Activestate but I can’t find any mention of how to handle .epl files.
