Enterview candidate…

i have applied in a company where is envesting in my country, and i have selected for an enterview, Unfortunately they did not select me, latter on the selected one has left the post. and i was their last choise, the post is still vacant but they did not call or gave me an offer yet, i know my interview performance was satisifactory.
what could be the reason
any idea!!
