Exchange5.5 – install NT4.0 sp6a

I got a Exchange5.5 already installed with SP3. I want to install NT4.0 sp6a on this one NT box. Currently, it has sp5.

What is the safest way to do this?

Do I need to install sp6a and then reinstall sp3 for Exchange?
