Exchg.55- on NT4 and OWA 2003

I have 2033 enterprise with 2003 OWA. Within the network(sub domain) I have NT4 servers with Exchg. 55. The connectors are set and exchg 55 box is accessed fine for 2003 OWA. Users are able to get mail, utilize options including changing there passwords.

Here is the issue, when I force a password change on the nt4 pdc or bdc, the users accessing e-mail receive login error:
OWA was unable to get to your inbox.

Again, this is just when a forced password change is set on user account that is trying to login on OWA e-mail.
