Failed MS Updates/Remnants

Failed MS Updates/Remnants:
In the days of dialup “aakkkk”, I had attempted numerous updates from micrsoft. Well i have an equal number of failures. Most irritating is the multitude of apparently unremovable EULA.txt files. “Access denied, file in use.”. ALL 45 of them? How do I get rid of these files.
