I am attempting to install SBS 4.0 on a new Dell server. The installation goes fine until a CHKDSK is performed and finds that the disk is FAT. The computer then says it is converting the drive to NTFS format which some of the components of Small Business Server are required to run in. After about 3 hours the computer reboots, and I go to the properties on the C: drive and it still says that it’s FAT. I can create more NTFS partitions, but I can’t install SBS to lets say the E: drive that’sNTFS.
I’ve tried reformatting the hard drive which has to be done in FAT (i assume because I have to do it out of DOS). I have an upgrade to SBS 4.5 and when I run that the same thing happens. The CHKDSK blue screen comes up and tells me that it’s converting to NTFS then when it’s done I get a screen that says the installation cannot continue becuse the disk is FAT do you want to convert to NTFS, which creates a loop that goes nowhere. Any suggestions from anybody?
