File Recovery Help

I got tired of removing trojans and viruses on a weekly basis on my brother’s PC so I did a non destructive system recovery on it recently–F10.
He assured me that he needed nothing from the HP Pavillion A230n. Now that the PC is working just fine “back to the original state” he tells me that we lost all of his picture files which were– guess where?? in his Documents folder. Well I tried Recoverymyfiles…and it only found a handful! Any ideas?

Another small note the audio device is not working…I’ll just need to find a driver for that problem.
