File removed during system virus scan

Any help I can get regarding this is greatly appreciated. I have a laptop that was given to me full of viruses. I went online and downloaded a virus software and deleted most of the viruses. Ever since then, I can’t connect to the internet and I believe my IP address registry may have been deleted because the laptop is not renewing it’s IP address. I’ve tried running Winsock XP, I tried everything I can think of to no success. Please help
