Firewall Gone – no access to Workgroup

by salaik . Updated 20 years, 8 months ago

Folks, I really need your help!
I recently reloaded a clients wireless laptop with Windows XP Pro, Office 2000, etc. It’s a Dell Latitude, I’d have to get all the specs.. Hoping someone can help based on what I do know..

All was fine, connectivity to the network and internet, no issues with home or office wireless network, everything tested fine. The client went overseas for a conference, and I find out today she could not access the hotel wireless network. Now she’s back in the office and has no connectivity to their network or printers (list not available error). Internet and email are fine, so she’s getting an IP. I had them check the Windows firewall to see if the ports I’d opened had been closed (for file sharing), and their Windows Firewall is gone! Not visible in Control Panel, or the Properties of Network Neighborhood. ?????? How could the Windows Firewall disappear? And what else would cause these network connections to drop? Please help!
