formating macbook

hi ive gat a macbook and i wana format it and reinstall mac osx 10 on it.and i was wondering is there a way to do that without longin on as any user? what i mean is like from the comand line like you can usally do with pc by inserting a bootable disk and format and install windows from there.if there is such a way please help me out tanx.
