G3 Major Problems?

by jparade . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

I have a G3 desktop (266mhz, 320mb RAM, OS9.1) in which I believe the analog borad is going out. EVERY time I try to restart it, I have to Zap the PRAM at least twice before it will boot, after which I have to reset the Appletalk. The display flakesout, shakes, and sometimes disappears altogether. The sound hasn’t worked in a long time, and the NIC card works intermittently. I have done all of the firmware updates, changed the battery, ran Disk First Aid, ran Norton’s Disk Doctor, rebuilt the desktop, and then the system folder, but still it doesn’t work right. I finally said heck with it, and ordered a new machine. I work for a school, and as we are on a very tight budget, would like to get more use out of this machine. I don’t feel confident giving to someone else, as they won’t know how to baby it, as it is needed to be. What can I do? Is it the logic board? What else could be causing all of these problems?
P.S. I have also ruled out the possibility of a virus by using Norton’s Anti-Virus with the latest virus definitions.
Thanks in advance, JAKE
