Gateway laptop battery runs out on startup?

Hi,

Recently, I’ve been having this really annoying problem with my 2-year-old Gateway laptop. I will shut it down one day when it’s at full battery, and the next day when I turn it back on, I find that it’s only at 6%. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
