General Protection Error

I was installing 128-bit encryption on a computer running Windows 95 and Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2. Everything went smoothly until the computer tried to reboot. It gave me a General Protection Error right away.

If I disable the Hard Disk Controlers in the device manager it boots fine but else I get this error. I can’t leave it this way because the CD-ROM is not working without the controler.

I am out of ideas now, please help
