Giving all end users admin rights because we can’t update Adobe Flash?

Without going into too much detail, we’re a media-centric company and Adobe Flash updates seem to be constantly bombarding us… we run Altiris but the department that manages can’t get a working Flash update; we then made our own self-service installer w/ admin rights built in, but they keep changing the flags on the installer files and it’s become a burden to manage. So now we’re going to just give everyone admin rights to their PC to update it themselves. Is this completely absurd? par for the course?

How are other companies handling Adobe updates specifically? It seems we have no issues with MSFT, Symantec, etc., but Adobe updates of any sort have always been absurdly difficult for everyone involved.
