Hard disk drive problem

Something is eating up my disk space as I watch. What should I do? I have 160GB hdd running windows xp 80GB on c: drive and I uninstall many prograns but it says low disk space the total program on my c: drive up tp 8GB where did the rest of it go? please its urgent
