Have macbook and iMac 23 ” display want to connect together.

Macbook have USB_c out put.. IMAC has 3 USB, one thunderbolt , one ethernet in puts..found USB-c to HDMI converter and HDMI to thunderbolt 2 converter..can i use those and HDMI cable to connect macbook to monitor? OUT of macbook with USB-c and INTO monitor via thunderbolt 2 ..
