Having Problems with XP, AOL 9.6 and Outlook 2007?

I am having a problem with a desktop that is running XP, AOL 9.6 and Outlook 2007.

When Outlook is running alone I can send emails. When I also have AOL running I cannot send emails from Outlook.

Has anyone else run into this problem?
