HELP: how to open environment variables from MS Office

by deepwoods . Updated 14 years, 11 months ago

I am new to this forum using WinXP and Office XP2002 and hope that I can get some help with being able to hyperlink system/environment variables to open up from MSWORD or MSEXCEL. I have searched and searched the internet with no success for an answer.

I am wanting to make a simple list of folders/locations (see below) on the PC that can be opened from a hyperlinked variable. I have tried to ad hyperlinks to open up folders or default files from a simple click on a hyperlink but with NO success. I hope that the more experienced members than myself could help me what I need to do in making the links workable.

Here is what I want to do and be able to click on from within a word or excel page. I do not want people to have to copy and paste or to type into the RUN window, or into an open folder. Just to click a link and the respective folder opens.

Can you help me by telling me what I can add to the and the to make the links work.

As the people who will use the links will have various root drive locations e.g C:/ or F:/ or H:/ etc etc, and the users will have their own username – I wish the links to be universal and by default open up to their own rootdrive and thier own username to the respective folders listed.

If you can help, then I thank you in advance, but please can you test the hyperlinks/links you provide first so I know they will work.

Hyperlinking this to %Temp% does NOT work within WORD or EXCEL.
