How can I change colors of sheet tabs?

I would like to assign individual background colors to each worksheet tab in an Excel 97 workbook. I know the tab color is linked to the Windows default colors. Is there a property for tab background color that I can set to be a color other than theWindows default for each tab? How would I handle the active/inactive state with the color changes?
