How can I set file/folder ownership regarless of OS or domain

by darcypa . Updated 15 years, 5 months ago

Good day,

I have a Segate FreeAgent Go USB Drive that I use on the road, at home and at work for personal files. My laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium and is not on a domain controller and the workgroup is set to WORKGROUP. My work computers run WinXP SP3 and are on a domain controller.

Is it possible to set the security properties on the drive so that regardless of which computer I connect it too I can have full control of the files and folders on the drive rather than having to take OWNERSHIP of the files ever time I change computers (depending on OS and domain controller).

I tried setting the permissions to EVERYONE but that did I get Access Denied error Msg. Are there any other generic user accounts that will let me do this? (authenticated user, Administrator, )

Thanx for your advice on this
