How do I enter many sites in Sharepoint

I am using Sharepoint 2.0 and have been given the task of creating over 1000 new sharepoint sites. (It’s a school) I know there should be a way to do it in a batch file, but they just threw a book at me and said “figure it out”

These will all be identical Document Workspace accounts with one student user each. These are all subsets of a main account.
