How do I move roaming profiles

I have a partition a Windows 2000 Server that is used to house roaming profiles. The partition is nearly full and we want to move the profiles to another partition on another server.

My question is: how do I move the roaming profiles? I have tried actually moving the profile – that failed because I do not have rights to the folder the profile is in. Would changing the profile path in the individual active directory objects work? This would be tedious for 400+ users, but I can’t think of any other way. Any and all advice is appreciated.
