How do I stop a rogue update?

Someone started an update about 6 days ago & it’s currently at 72%. I did not want/need it and cannot stop it. I have tried to go to my programs & delete it. It won’t die. It also has been slowing my system waaay down & even shuts down in the middle of emails or websites etc. HELP. It has the yellow shield for Windows updates
