how do I undo an accidental indexing of my Win 7 laptop?

I was trying to back up some videos/music to cd/dvd’s…when I mistakenly “indexed” the drive… now I can’t find any of my documents/libraries unless I set the folder options to show ‘hidden files’ (?)…what the f*** did I do and how do I undo it without losing any data/files?

I navigated my way to ‘Indexing Options’ then ‘Advanced Options’ and there is an option there to ‘Delete and Rebuild Index’ with a REBUILD button. Will this advanced option undo my stupidity?
