How much can CDONTS handle?

I am going to be developing a subscription mailing list on a Win2k server using ASP 3.0 and MSSQL 2000. The subscriber list could get into the thousands. Can CDONTS handle this kind of load or do I need to look into other options? Thanks for yourhelp!
