How should I proceed?

by wannathis . Updated 23 years, 12 months ago

In the past 4 years in IT, I hadn’t made a caree plan. On the contary, I’ve had a very srange and funny career path by chances.I was first in marketing. However, for some reason, I didn’t do the typical marketing job — marcom, exhibition, etc. On the contrary, I was more in planning new product and business and a little project management.

However, after I left my job to cure my illness and return to the market in the middle of last year, things in IT had changed dramastically. I couldn’t find the kind of jobs that I had before — doing information technology product/business planning not having the experience of being an engineer — though I do know how to utilize the technologies to make money.
Currently I am working as a reasarch assistant in campus to support myself.
However, I really have to do something to be “back to the track”…

The problems I encounter now:
1. Though I was in marketing, I was more like in product development. ( My job titles were mostly “new product development”. So I don’t know how to do PR, holding exhibitions, etc. I was paid to draft the direction and functions of new products and doing marketing analysis.
2. But on the technical side, I don’t know enough to become an enginner.

In my 4years of working experience, people (as well as myself) found me having good market eyesight and inter-department coordinating skill.

After thinking for 6 months, I feel like becoming a professional PM in MIS division.
But I am 30 years old now!
What if I spend a year studying to get into a graduate school to major in MIS? (Here we have to pass fierece entrance exams to get into graduate school)
Then I would be 33 years old when I graduated — Will I get job opportunities with a degree but with no hands on experience by then?

Thank you for reading this~
