How to automate in a java application

Need a way to automate the daily and repetitive manipulation of data in a java based application that works within an Internet Explorer window. Use to click different buttons, options and selections; scroll down; copy; paste; controlled wait or pause in between steps. Since, it’s to update daily performed IT support activities in a ticketing system, at the workplace. Have tried various automating tools as automate, hotkey, macros, etc. Have even tried Imacro add-on in firefox without success; macro failed to collect the moves for starters.
