How to fix XP run command?

5 pc on a network, two have the following problem.

when windows run command \\computer name\drive letter is entered, instead of opening the drive, windows opens “open with” dialogue box.

“open with” dialogue box also is opened if properties > find target is selected.

not a huge problem but is a real pain when trying to connect to another pc not on the network.

any suggestions?
