HP CD Writer 8250i hangs…..

Here is the problem..I have an IBM Aptiva 500 series, Win 98, CD-DVD drive. I recently installed a HP internal CD-Writer 8250i and mapped it to D drive. I am able to view both the CD-DVD drive and the CD-RW both in the win explorer and system Info.

When I click on Direct CD, it just hangs…and locks the system….
