HP Deskjet 895 Cxi Gibberish

When I get a paperjam in my HP 895, it will pump out 1 to 10 lines of gibberish per sheet for sometimes as many as 200 to 300 sheets. You have to continue feeding paper until it finally decides to print what it was trying to print when it jammed. The print queue shows an error and deleting the print job doesn’t help. Neither does turning off or unplugging the printer. Any suggestions?
