HP dv1000 USB help

Hello I have an HP dv1000 laptop. The issue I am having is when I plug up a USB device, I get a window popping up stating “The device can perform faster if connected to a USB 2.0 port”. I am running WinXP Home SP 3. I tried reinstalling chipset drivers from Intel.com, didn’t make any difference. I am open to any suggestions or ideas.
