HP Laser Printer Defaults for auto page selection

I have an Access application that requires the printer continue button to be pressed to start printing reports unless the manual feed tray is open and then it prints as it should. Access options only address margins for client apps. I need to know why it doesn’t auto print from the regular tray when the manual tray is closed (tray 1) and bottom tray (tray 2) is loaded with the paper size required for report.
