I can’t find video to watch!

Everytime I click on a video clip like on NBC to watch a clip on THE VOICE I get a message
that “my phone is not able to play that type of file format! I’ll bet the IPHONE can play it!!! or do
I need to buy an application to play something that almost every other Smartphone can play?
