I have a slow running Multi-Media Problem:

I’m running a memory-intensive multimedia application on my computer, which has 128-MB RAM installed. I see that the computer momentarily stops responding whenever I switch between two multimedia applications. A friend suggests upgrading the RAM to 256 MB to correct the performance problems. Will this work?
