I reinstall windows vista home premium on a Acer laptop, using a Dell CD

I did a clean installation of Windows Vista Home Premium on a Acer laptop, using a Dell CD, but when entering the Windows Product key that comes with the Acer, it says that the product key appears to be invalid. How do I fix this? I don’t have the ACER CD. Thanks!
