IE 7 Freezes Opening PDF files

Specs: Windows Vista SP1 Internet Explorer 7 all security patches and updates installed.
Adobe Reader V9

When opening a link containing a PDF document in IE7, the document load completes and IE freezes. The only way out is to CTRL ALT DEL and end task on the process.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader. I am not running the browser in safe mode.I downloaded and installed Firefox 3. It didn’t freeze it closed completely. I’m at a loss possibly you all can help.
