IIS authentication with Local accounts.

by mark.parker . Updated 21 years, 2 months ago

We have an IIS 6.0 server that is a member of a domain. I would like to create a local account on the server and use this account for authentication to a secure directory.

I create the account locally on the web server (so the account has “log on locally” permissions) and set the account to have read NTFS permissions to the secure directory.

In the IIS admin I remove anonymous access and leave only Integrated Windows Authentication for the secure directory

Now when attempting to log in it prompts for the login details, and I am unable to have IIS recognise the local account I created.

I have tried using just and \ to no avail.

Is there a step I am missing, or should I be using another combination with the credentials.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks
