Installatin of linksys wusb11 adapter

I have attempted to install the software package for the linksys wusb network adapter. Normally, the installation is trouble free. But this installation on a Dell 4600 machine running windows xp is driving me to drink. Every time I insert the CD it begins the installation process then abrutly stops. The Linksys ico starts and is viewable on the desktop and shuts down. I have done all that I know, checked the registry for any remnents from a past installation to any anomalies, but I just keep hitting a brick wall. I am looking at reformating the hdd and reinstalling xp. Help, I am at my witts end (smile). Thanks
