Installing XP

Ok her is the deal.
I installed a new version of xp I got and i got a blue error screen after I installed it. (never went to windows or log on screen)
I tryed installing it (a different version of xp home edition) still dont work. I tryed to put the cd in so it can boot up the installation, but it wont work. Is there anything i can do to install windows. And another thing when i installed the windows xp i hade it wouldnt show up on the screen when the pc boots up. I only have 2 choices.
1. Windows XP Professional
2. Windows Xp Hom Edition

Tryed both wont work. The pro didnt switch to home and the home (second choiced) was from a diff hard drive which i no longer have. If anyone can help please reply thanks.
