Ipod is disabled

I have a clients Ipod that his son played with it and now it says “Ipod is disabled connect to Itunes”. Noone knows the passcode and he never backed it up on any computer. I would prefer not doing a restore through Itunes since that will erase everything.
Is there any way to enable it (and remove any passcodes) without losing the data?
