javascript:void (null) browser error

Windows XP (latest updates) … using IE7 or Firefox (latest updates) …. Java (latest update) …. my Yahoo homepage unable to load some selected modules …. also cannot rearrange my homepage …. and AccuWeather weather animations do not work ……. yet these same items work when I dual boot into Windows 2000 …. any ideas appreciated.
